One night, a pastor was praying to God for the people in his church, interceding with zeal for God to help his people, the list was long. Suddenly, he sense God's presence in the room and speaking to him in his heart.
God said, "Stop." but he carry on.
And for the 2nd time, God said, "Stop."
Pastor: "God, I can't, there are a long list of people who needs your help."
And God asked, "Who are you praying to?"
Pastor: "Can't you see God, that I'm busy praying to You. This list is important, it have to go. Can you let me finish it?"
Finally, after an hour, the pastor finishes his list and his prayer was done. He began thinking back what happened and it suddenly dawn upon him, that all this while, from the starting of his prayer to the end, it was mainly him who's talking all the way, request after request. There was no chance for God to speak to him, his prayer was not to be interrupted.
I think it is good to take a step back once a while and just listen to what God have to say. No doubt it is important to pray for the needy, but there is a time for everything. A time where we quiet ourselves, our hearts, our minds and just dwell in the presence of God, to enjoy his presence and allowing him to minister to us.
